The main legislative action on the Public Procurement Code (Legislative Decree No 50/2016) was carried out during the current parliamentary term by the ‘restart the public works' Decree-Law (D.L. 32/2019).This decree-law provided for a number of amendments to the Code; among those, it stated an experimental suspension of the effectiveness of certain provisions of the Code, as well as a return to a "single" regulation of execution and implementation.

Specific regulatory provisions were issued for the COVID-19 emergency.
